01 Our Group

The group was established in 1992 at our previous site in Fagley, Bradford. We then moved to the current site in Wilsden in 2017, with an official opening by HRH Princess Anne in 2018.

02  Volunteers

We have a strong group of volunteers, all of whom are DBS checked. They are very committed to the common goal of providing an enjoyable experience to all our riders.

03  Committee

Chair - Charlotte Brown

Secretary - Jeannette Wheeler

Treasurer - Jane Coates

04 RDA

We are a member of the national riding for the disabled charity association. We are very proud to be one of the nation's registered RDA groups.

05 Our Horses

The horses we use for our RDA lessons are part of the Wilsden Equestrian Centre (Formerly Throstle Nest Riding School). They range in size from 11 hands to 16.2 hands high.

06 Riders

We take riders from aged 5 upwards, with a range of disabilities. All riders must be under 12 stone in weight. Application forms must be completed and handed to a member of staff.

07 Facilities

We have a ramp to aid the mounting process, however all riders must be able to stand and self support as we do not have a hoist and we cannot lift them on.

08 Services

Alongside riding lessons, we also offer grooming/care for a more hands on approach, for those who may not want to ride the horses.

09 Sessions

Sessions are held most days and are tailored to the individual needs. Riders often ride in groups with similar challenges, but can also ride with able bodied groups if preferred.

10 Fees

There is no membership fee for our group. There is also no fee for hat hire, however we do charge for lessons/sessions. Some activities are subsidised.

11 Supporters

We have a host of supporters who have donated to us, for example: Co-op, Howdens Joinery, Shipley Community Chest, the National Lottery Community Fund and many more.

12 Events

We hold regular events to raise funds for our group, for example: Dinner dance ball, football match, dog shows and many more, keep an eye on our social media pages and noticeboards for regular updates.
